The Future of Logistics Depends on Embracing Innovation

The 6th International Transportation and Logistics Conference, organized this year by Pegasus Cargo, was held at Dokuz Eylül University Maritime Faculty Çakabey Lighthouse Conference Hall.

The conference was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Denktaş Şakar. In the second session, presentations were delivered by:

  • Serkan Demirkan, Qatar Airways Cargo Manager & ACC President

  • Alp Tuğhan, Chairman of the Board, Yeditepe Transportation Inc.

  • Arif Badur, General Manager, Reibel Transportation

  • Ümit Kula, Operations Control Center (OCC) Manager, Pegasus Airlines

  • Harun Ay, Cargo Operations & Marketing Manager, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport

Serkan Demirkan: “Qatar Airways Is One of the Fastest-Growing Airlines”

Serkan Demirkan stated that Qatar Airways is among the world’s fastest-growing airlines and also shared information about ACC with participants.

Alp Tuğhan: “As a Company, We Attach Great Importance to Innovation”

Alp Tuğhan introduced Yeditepe Transportation, emphasizing that the company has a young and dynamic structure and was founded in 2005 with just two employees. He highlighted their strong focus on working with young professionals and underlined that innovation is a core value of the company.

Tuğhan stated that Yeditepe Transportation specializes particularly in perishable cargo and defense industry logistics, noting that 90% of the company’s business volume comes from air transportation. He also added that the company has received numerous prestigious awards over the past three years.

Arif Badur: “What Would Happen Without Trucks?”

Arif Badur emphasized the vital role of logistics, explaining the severe consequences that would occur within days if truck transportation were to stop entirely.

Ümit Kula: “We Plan Operations for Approximately 500 Flights a Day”

Ümit Kula explained that Pegasus Airlines operates 77 aircraft across more than 100 destinations and manages the planning and monitoring of around 500 flights daily using advanced digital systems.

Harun Ay: “From 3–3.5 Million Passengers in 2006 to Nearly 30 Million Today”

Harun Ay shared the growth story of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, stating that passenger numbers increased dramatically over the years and that a second runway project is underway to support continued growth.
