MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT

The multimodal transportation services offered by Yeditepe Taşımacılık A.Ş. are based on a transportation model that combines different modes of transport into a single, integrated solution. One of the main advantages of multimodal transportation is the ability to create a flexible combination between transport modes, enabling effective time and cost management according to the characteristics of the cargo.

All transportation modes used between the loading point and the final destination are carried out under a single transportation contract. In multimodal transportation, also known as multi-modal transport, an integrated system is applied in which the entire operation is planned from start to finish. Transit times, transport routes, and the transport modes used at each stage are determined in advance.

Unlike intermodal transportation, multimodal transportation is not limited to road, rail, or sea transport using a single loading unit. Instead, all necessary transport modes, including air freight, may be utilized. While intermodal transportation keeps the cargo in the same loading unit throughout the journey, in multimodal transportation the cargo may be transferred into different units and continue via different transport modes.

In many multimodal operations, road transport is minimized or not used at all, making this system one of the most environmentally friendly transportation solutions, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
